What are peoples opinions on the current regeneration plans and Asda's involvement? Most of the letters printed in the journal seem to be against proposals but I don't see many viable alternatives being proposed.

I have to be careful what I obviously say on all matters on the forum. What I can say is that 75% of all voters on the poll I ran on the homepage were for the proposals. I have also been told that similar projects have been good for similar towns and bad. I would need more information from informed choices as to what it would mean for Exmouth.

Well, I'm pleased to hear that 75% were for the idea! I'm all for it but I do think they need to think carefully about where everything is placed. For example... I don't think the leisure centre should go where they're proposing as Asda and a few other retail outlets would be enough there (traffic wise). If Rolle College does come up for sale, that would be an ideal place to put the leisure centre.

Yet another subject for discussion, Rolle College!

75% for Asda Nah! I reckon one person kept re-voting How accurate can an online pole be? So many people couldn't be so naive. Asda would destroy Exmouth town centre.

The estuary would also be spoiled. Wildlife (and nearby residents) would be affected with all night lighting and car banging.

A quiet, grassy area along the estuary would be ideal for watching birdlife with a picnic.

Leave the library where it is - just refurbish it, as it brings custom to Exeter Road shops.

I've not been in the leisure centre so can't comment on that. Maybe that could be refurbished?

What about Asda going where Rolle College is?

The online poll had a delay on it of several weeks. I forget the exact length as I have to configure it in seconds so the results will be fairly accurate. I have a feeling that the Rolle college site may be a better area from the points you are talking about but I believe that from what I have heard so far, it is planned that the redevelopment of the estuary site will _link_ the town center with the ASDA site bring more people here. It is also hoped, I believe, that the ASDA will bring people from further afield that usually go to Tesco to the town center. Who knows.
