There are many rumours that the Post Office is to be sold and that site could make a good store of a more suitable size.
I do hope these are just rumours - or at least that they will move the Post Office to another location in the town.

I have been assured by Town Management that these are only rumours and there is no plans for this to happen. If it did happen though, I did hear that the sorting office part would move to Dinan Way area, perhaps near B and Q leaving just the post office in the town center, cheaper for the Post office and would make way for more essential parking in the town center?

Regarding the new retirement flats, it would be great to have affordable housing in the town as I myself can not yet afford the huge costs of a first time buy!

I found a _link_ to the older 'Unlocking Exmouth' plans yesterday... the proposed London Inn site included the current Post Office so it looks like it might be a bit more than rumour.

This dates back to 2004 and I think this is the old plans. I do not know for sure though.

it's difficult to understand how the local council can support a major corporation like asda in the full knowledge that a move away from mass importation of produce and goods is the only way exmouth, or any other community, will survive in the coming years.

peak oil will make these profiteers unable to supply us with (pesticide filled, non - local and damaging) food, and will leave us high and dry when oil becomes too expensive and eventually runs out.

it's upsetting that the council would rather put blind faith into an organisation with such a terrible background as asda. rather than be serious about enabling exmouth to support itself, promote the community and engage with the current environmental crises.

added to this, of course, is that asda being on the estuary is a shocking idea that will kill the local town and ruin the beauty that surrounds us.

a call to arms exmouth, don't let them make these decisions for you. find out for yourself about the issues and let the council know that they can't sell our livelihoods!

Welcome to the forums "unsustainable asda"! A real good point raised by you with the sustainability of the town and will be interesting to hear more responses.
